STRACK

Tell us about yourself!

I am an old teacher close to retirement.  I have two grown sons one is currently serving in the Middle East  in  the United States Naval Security Forces.

My acting journey is kind of typical. I grew up doing shows/musicals in elementary school and church.  Thought it was something I was ok at so I kept up with it in high school and college.  But I stopped performing in my early 20's when I got out of college.  About 10 years ago I found I had more time on my hands, so I went to an audition in Elgin, got cast with some small roles, and kept coming back.

What do you like most about acting?

I like getting to be someone other than myself.

Where else have you performed and what are some of your favorite roles?

I have performed with the Elgin Theatre Company, Independent Players also in Elgin, and the old Town Square Players who were based out of Woodstock.  This will be my fourth production with Parker Players.I Some of my favorite roles would be Scrooge in A Christmas Chaos, Gordon in Dead Mans Cell Phone, and of course Mr. Pippet in Suite Surrender.

Do you work primarily as a performer or do you have a ‘day job’?

My day job for just a short time more is that of a high school teacher.

Tell us about who you play in Amadeus.

I play Strack.  He is a member of the Emperor's Court.  He seems to be a needy advisor to the Emperor.  Wants to please him, and is a bit insecure about fitting in.  In many ways, it seems like type casting.

Biggest challenge in playing this role?

The Bench

What sort of person is going to love this show?

I think someone who is into the classics, but also someone who likes to see a story presented with a bit of an edge.  There is a ton of creativity that is evident in the presentation of this story, and there are some amazing performances being put on display.

What will the audience be thinking about in the car as they drive home after this show?

That they just had the opportunity to see and take part in an artistic event that told a great story in a fun and creative manner.  They will be talking about the amazing performances of many of the leads.

Anything else you want to add?

I feel very fortunate to be part of this amazing group.
