Everything will go smoothly, I just know it.
Mr. Saunders has been planning this special showcase for over a year. He’s accounted for everything and it will all go like clockwork.
I’ve got the schedule memorized just like Mr. Saunders told me to. And I know my keyword by heart:
Glue. I’ll stick to Mr. Merelli like glue.
First, Mr. Merelli will arrive by train at 11:00 a.m. and I’ll escort him to his hotel suite. Perhaps a little lighter fare for lunch and then it’s off to the theater for the dress rehearsal at 1:00 p.m. ahead of the big show tonight at 8:00 p.m.
The cast is thrilled to meet Mr. Merelli and everyone has been working so hard over these past months. I just know the show will be a hit like Mr. Saunders says. The audience and the Opera Guild will see his genius
… even if he says the Guild are sometimes spineless, ungrateful, fetid schmucks.
It’ll be wonderful, just you wait and see!
And who knows, if all goes well, Mr. Saunders might finally let me be in a show. I mean, I’ve been to every rehearsal for the past three seasons. And he even let me open the grand drape that one time when the stagehand made him upset and Mr. Saunders “banished him to Toledo.”
But oh - it’s nearly 10:30 a.m. - I'd better get to the train station.
